Director

Ingrid (from Ballymena, Northern Ireland) obtained her BSc (First Class, Combined Honours) in Biochemistry and Pharmacology at Aston University in England and her PhD at the Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg, France. She is currently the director of the Institute for Vascular Signalling and her research focuses on the elucidation of novel signal transduction mechanisms in the vessel wall. Current projects are aimed at elucidating the role of cytochrome P450-derived lipid mediators in vascular homeostasis, endothelial cell to pericyte communication, how TGF-β affects the phenotype of different cells and its role in repair and regeneration after injury. Many of the projects are also studied in the background of diabetes. Ingrid is a member of the Excellence Cluster Cardio-Pulmonary Institute (CPI) steering committee, a PI with the German centre for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK). She is currently co-speaker of CRC 1531 “Damage control by the stroma-vascular fraction” and its “Integrated Research Training Group”. Ingrid also coordinates the MSc course in Molecular Medicine and is currently the vice dean for research at Goethe University faculty of medicine.
